Selection
Applications must be submitted online as instructed below. The VECD Consortium conducts a review of all proposals and makes awards, following guidelines of the NIH Center for Scientific Review. The Principal Investigator of the Consortium serves as the administrator for these reviews but does not vote on any proposal.
Applications are reviewed based on several criteria, including:
a. Relevance of the application to the GHF Program objectives
b. Synergy with a VECD site’s research objectives
c. Candidate backgrounds and career statements documenting student/trainee success; evidence of ability to adapt, bond, and persist under difficult circumstances; and confirming aptitude and interest in a career in global health and clinical research
d. Engagement with appropriate VECD mentors and letters of support from the proposed mentors and home institution
Applicants can expect to be notified of their status in January 2013. The VECD Consortium has limited fellowship positions, however program alternates may be accepted later in the year as additional funding becomes available.
