Applications are now open for 2017-2018 VECD Global Health Fellows.

The deadline for submission has been extended to December 9, 2016

You can save your partially completed application online at any time and return to it later. Please do not submit your application until all required components and attachments have been completed and uploaded.

Required Attachments

  1. Essay Questions. Applicants are asked to describe their prior research experience, experience working in resource-limited settings, and career goals and plans. Additionally, applicants must submit an 1200-word summary of the research they intend to conduct during their fellowship, and are asked to outline their proposed timelines & mentoring plan. Applicants must download, complete, and upload this document to the online application.
  2. Applicant Biographical Sketch (NIH Format). For instructions on how to format your Biosketch, please refer to NIH guidelines: http://grants.nih.gov/grants/funding/phs398/phs398.html
  3. Primary Mentors’ Biographical Sketches (NIH Format).
  4. Transcript. Predoctoral applicants must provide a copy of their most recent transcript. Copies of transcripts are acceptable. Postdoctoral applicants do not need to include a transcript.
  5. Letters of Support. At least two letters of support are required for this application.
    • One letter of support must include the endorsement of a VECD Consortium mentor and/or site director.
    • If applicant would need to take time off from a current residency or fellowship program in order to participate in the VECD program one letter must include the endorsement of a the program director of that residency or fellowship program
    • Any additional desired letters should come from persons who know the applicant well and can address research accomplishments, research potential, and likelihood of a successful research career.
    • Letters of Support should be addressed to “VECDor Review Committee” and can be uploaded to your application or emailed (by the application due date) directly to donna.j.ingles@vanderbilt.edu.

If you are unable to submit the application electronically, please contact us prior to the deadline to make alternate mailing arrangements. Please anticipate these deadlines to avoid a last-minute submission, as no applications will be accepted after the deadline.
